Once you've checked in, signed the waiver, and we've made our way to the practice lot, here's what the first lesson will look like:
Wake up the left leg by operating the clutch and getting a feel for operating the shift lever. Here we learn the connection between the clutch and the shifter.
Only 10 minutes in and we’re already moving - practice finding the “catch” point of the clutch, and how it relates to our end goal - moving forward (without stalling!).
Now it’s time for some gas! Add in the gas pedal while releasing the clutch.
Within 30 minutes, you’ll already be starting and stopping without stalling! it’ll then be time to practice the sales-y sounding “no fail hill start”. Once your conquer this, You can conquer any hill start with ease.
Time to find the yellow and white lines of the back roads. We practice driving on low-traffic roads with ample space for shifting up, shifting down, and pulling to the side of the road if the pressure gets too great.
Practice makes perfect - continue driving on back roads, practicing all the skills we learned in the parking lot.
Continue practicing with real-world, but low-risk, scenarios to walk through the do’s and don’ts of manual driving outside of a parking lot.
Head back to our starting point. You just drove a manual car!
This intermediate course is designed for those who have some experience driving a manual. Whether it’s a refresher from last year or over a decade ago, this course offers an accelerated path through the basics to get you back into real-world driving.
We start with a quick refresher in an empty parking lot to remind the left leg how to operate the clutch
Once you nail the basics, the rest of the lesson is navigating real-world driving scenarios. If there is something specific that needs to be worked on we can focus on that.
After practicing real-world scenarios for two hours, you’ll be confident and ready to drive a manual anywhere!
